SUSANNE GREENE

BIO

I have been working almost exclusively in clay since the early 90’s.  As with so many artists I have been captivated by its incredible willingness to transform itself into wonderful forms, and to mimic almost any material.  I particularly enjoy the process of construction, having had an earlier incarnation as a carpenter.  I also enjoy story-telling, perhaps because I worked with young children for many years as well.

But in the last few years I have moved from more or less narrative work to much more abstract pieces.  While my earlier work almost always represented something, now I am building pieces without any desire to replicate an object from the world, or somehow explain a feeling or thought.  It is a very liberating process.
