MARYANN GELULA

STATEMENT

My paintings and collages are based upon an interest in the harmonic structure of color and the tension between line and form.  The work speaks of color and form against an absence of both, creating an intellectual sense of space, tension, and abstraction.  These visual "poems" become transitions between paintings and sculpture, and the objects included relate to a personal moment.  In all of my work, I seek the strength of statement through the refinement and simplicity of form.
